The 10-Week Syllabus Breakdown

Module 1: Foundations of Confidence & Flow

Week 1: The Art of the Layered Warm-Up

  • Theme: Pacing and establishing class tone.

  • Focus: How to use the first 5–8 minutes (Footwork/The Hundred) to assess client bodies, establish breathing rhythms, and seamlessly introduce the theme of your class.

  • Lesson Planning Tools: Creating an automated "go-to" warm-up script to calm your nerves.

Week 2: Clear & Concise Cueing

  • Theme: Cutting the fluff out of your teaching vocabulary.

  • Focus: Transitioning from long, over-explained descriptions to impactful directional and anatomical cues. Learn how to cue before the carriage moves.

  • Lesson Planning Tools: The "Action-Part-Direction" cueing formula template.

Week 3: Seamless Transitions & Pacing

  • Theme: Eliminating "dead time" in class.

  • Focus: Choreographing spring changes, box transitions, and strap adjustments so the class never stops flowing. Keeping the heart rate up and clients engaged.

  • Lesson Planning Tools: Grouping exercises by machine setup to minimise equipment changes.

Module 2: Progressive Programming & Adaptability

Week 4: On-the-Fly Regressions (Teaching Mixed Abilities)

  • Theme: Keeping your class safe and cohesive.

  • Focus: Spotting poor form or struggle instantly. Mastering the exact regressions for heavy-hitter movements like the Short Spine, Elephant, and Plank variations.

  • Lesson Planning Tools: Creating "Level 1, 2, and 3" tracks for your class plans.

Week 5: Creative Progressions (Challenging Your Advanced Clients)

  • Theme: Layering complexity without changing the base exercise.

  • Focus: Manipulating levers, reducing base support, closed vs. open kinetic chains, and changing blind spots to challenge advanced clients in a mixed-level room.

  • Lesson Planning Tools: Choreography breakdown for layering extensions safely.

Week 6: Intelligent Spring Mechanics & Tone

  • Theme: Understanding the "why" behind the tension.

  • Focus: When to cue lighter springs for core stability vs. heavier springs for muscular strength. Understanding how different reformer brands mimic resistance.

  • Lesson Planning Tools: A master cheat sheet for spring loading across standard exercises.

Module 3: Props, Spatial Planes & Athletic Variety

Week 7: Layering Props: The Magic Circle & Small Ball

  • Theme: Up-levelling foundational repertoire.

  • Focus: Using small props to assist with alignment or to increase the burn in the core, adductors, and glutes.

Week 8: Mastering the Box (Long & Short Box Series)

  • Theme: Maximising spinal planes of movement.

Module 4: Integration & Studio Readiness

Week 10: The Masterclass & Programming Showcase
